Hmm. The problems with Windows persist.
Windows like to slow down. It likes to crash. And there's NOTHING I can find that could be causing it. Needless to say, it's getting really annoying. Why does my laptop suddenly prefer Linux over Windows? Why does it keep freezing up my internet on Windows, but has no problems AT ALL on Ubuntu?
I'm sick of it. I'm sick of dealing with Windows' strange quirks. I may just start using Ubuntu full time, until I buy a MacBook Pro. Then I'll use Mac OS X + Ubuntu full time. Bye bye, Windows.
(Written in a bit of a irked and ticked off mood. You would do the same, if suddenly your computer preferred one OS over the other.)
Yep, that's a clear case of Windows-Gibbies. Had 'em 5 years ago, the same time I said good bye to windows, and hello to Linux.
ReplyDeleteEach and every time I install Windows for a DirectX app, something goes wrong, eighter it runs slow, it restarts, it crashes or my Internet connection starts working.
Go for Ubuntu, I for one recommend it. It's hard at start, since DarkGDK/DBPro don't work, but hey, there are a billion SDK-s out there, that you can use. As a tip, check out Panda3D.
I'm currently re-writing all my past DarkGDK/DBPro games in it, and it works great on my Ubuntu machines. And if that isn't enough, I got the same game made with panda working on Windows and inside my browser.
Thanks for commenting!
ReplyDeleteI've heard good things about Panda3D and will check it out when I get a chance.
I'm loving Ubuntu. To be honest, I'm starting to wonder how I ever got along with Windows. I guess it's just because I had grown up with it and so was used to it. I'm glad I decided to give Ubuntu a chance a few months ago. I'm absolutely loving it. :)
Honestly, I'm thinking about stopping game programming, and instead shifting my focus to learning web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.,), and I think I'll use Ubuntu exclusively during this process. It's just easier for me.
I've been learning the Bluefish Web Development application (from the Ubuntu Software Center) and while it's a little confusing to use/learn, I like it a lot and can't wait to start developing official web pages with it.
